Yoga and Pilates For Golf

Yoga and Pilates are two similar systems yet are also worlds apart.  Let me explain; you are aware that proper muscle and joint conditioning are essential for any sport to be played properly and to help reduce injury, aren't you?  Good.  On this page we shall talk about two disciplines Yoga and Pilates for Golf.

Let us look at Yoga first.
Yoga has been around for a very long time and it is an holistic (mind, body and spirit) approach to fitness.  In fact at its highest levels it is a way of life!  It is also without doubt a very good way to increase muscle tone all over the body, control your breathing and relax and increase your flexibility as well.

Pilates is the new kid on the block.  It does very similar to Yoga but instead only concentrates on body and mind.  The other major difference is that Pilates also focus on strength and flexibility of the core muscle system more than the others. Yoga = flexibility then strength of whole body, Pilates = strength then flexibility of core muscle system before the whole body.

Both can be done with very little equipment and in small areas.  Pilates does use some equipment to help with the exercises, Yoga is predominantly done on the floor, with a mat for comfort.

Through a series of articles and videos it is the aim of this page to educate Golfers about Yoga and Pilates and how then can help improve not just your game but your health as well.  The videos and articles will be linked to from this page and can be seen below.
