Yoga For Golfers

Yoga For Golfers

The benefits of Yoga are endless, and not just to Golfers.  As part of a Golf fitness program, Yoga for Golfers is important.  This is because Yoga creates a more flexible and stronger body, the very thing needed for Golf! Doesn't it make sense then to at least practice some basic Yoga poses in your Golf fitness plan?

To help get an understanding of some Yoga moves that Golfers can use to help improve flexibility  I have included video demonstrations.  These are easier to understand than written or just pictures.

I must add if you try these do so only after consulting a doctor or fitness professional and do not attempt them beyond the limits that your body will allow.  I or the persons in the video are NOT responsible for any benefit or injury that may occur from attempting these exercises.

Golf Fitness Strengthen Core Muscles With Yoga Pose - 'The Plank'

The aim of this pose is to strengthen your core muscles by using them to hold your body in a flat position. This is achieved by tightening the stomach muscles, when the body is raised and in the pose. As the instructor says "Do not hold this pose for any longer than you naturally can."

Golf Fitness Hip Flexibility

Two different exercises have been included here, the first may be quite difficult for beginners.  Again, and I stress, do not do these exercises without consulting health and fitness professionals first!  Also do no more then your body will naturally allow you to do.

Half Happy Baby Pose

Knee Circles

The aim of both of these poses is to allow your skeleton to increase in flexibility and strengthen your hips.

Golf Fitness Yoga For Strengthening Your Lower Back

The purpose of the poses in this video are to help strengthen your lower back so aiding in a better posture, correct movement and increased flexibility.

Before I go on it must be pointed out that NO exercise or Golf fitness plan should be started without the proper planning and execution.  Use a training partner as often as possible and ALWAYS consult an appropriate fitness instructor and a doctor of medicine before starting any Golf fitness plan.

There are a great number more Yoga poses and exercises that can be incorporated into a Golf fitness plan.  Those above are to demonstrate just a few that are available to do.  One of the major advantages of Yoga is that it does not require a lot of equipment, so is relatively cheap, and can be done in a small place so you could do it at your own home.

I hope that you enjoyed the videos, be careful when exercising and may it improve your health and your Golf becoming a part of your normal Golf fitness plan.
